Kara wasn't always this protective, or emotional. Before the apocalypse, Kara was Karaless. She didn't do much of anything other than goof off. She barely graduate High school, and college wasn't in her future. She didn't have any dreams. Kara was in a rut, and when she the apocalypse broke out she was unaware. She had been on drugs, and was hospitalized. When things broke out, her family closed off her hospital room in Alabama. They stayed in the hospital room, and waited for things to end. It was her grandparents, her parents, her sister, brother-in-law, and her nephew. They had went to visit her, and were suddenly forced into one room. Military people began shooting people, but before they could reach the 5th floor. Well, let's just say they didn't make it that high... The family locked the door, shoving whatever they could in front of it. They were safe as long as none of those fleshies got through the door. The window was too high, and it became a resort to seeing the world around them.
The family watched the town fall to ruins around them, and Kara woke up only a few hours later. Her monitor was still going, due to the power sources not being shot off just yet. The lot of them started hoarding supplies and making homemade weapons at that point. They barely escaped the hospital without anyone being attacked, though they came close. At one point, her grandfather was grabbed by his jacket, but he quickly discarded it. The jumped into their large van, and off they went. Being sure to buckle in Flynn, her nephew, and though she was still a little disoriented from the overdose and drug usage. Kara seemed to realize her life or death situation. Now, she had a family to take care of.
From that moment on, Kara was the planner and the strength of the bunch. Kara and her brother-in-law did the heavy lifting. They worked together, and were a great team. While driving, they heard of Atlanta, Georgia having a safety zone. That was their first destination. They were almost to Georgia, and decided to find a place to rest. That was the night her grandparents were both eaten alive. It was a horrid sight, and the group had to leave their family members behind. As they headed forward to Georgia, Kara was beginning to lose hope. In Georgia, her mother was grabbed by a group of fleshies. They were so close to getting away, but her mother couldn't get in the van quick enough. Her mother screamed for them to go on without her, and they had to.
Leaving her behind, the family was getting smaller. They only ones remaining were Kara, her sister, her brother-in-law, her father, and Flynn. As they made it into Atlanta Georgia, they instantly saw what a lie the broadcaster had been. They were instantly bombarded with fleshies from all sides. Her father and brother-in-law were supposed to meet up with them around the corner of a building. They escaped to a different van, and found the keys already in the ignition. They decided to head to Texas, hoping that they could find somewhere to stay. On their way, her brother-in-law and father never turned up. Both her sister, and Flynn were heart broken .
After a few hours of driving, her sister stopped replying to her. Suddenly, she heard a low growl and when she glanced into the back seat. Her sister was looking at Flynn, and Kara slapped at her sister to get her attention. Flynn jumped in the back seat as her sister tried to attack her. Kara quickly stopped the vehicle, and grabbed a few things and Flynn. The two of them ran on foot, until they found another vehicle. It was a small two door car, but the keys had been in the visor. It was parked, and unlocked (Thankfully). She buckled Flynn into the passenger side, and the two of them ended up on the edge of Alabama. Kara has gathered few supplies, and they currently reside in a Farm house not far from Georgia. It has it's own well, and generator. Those were the two reasons Kara chose the place. There had been a suicide in the barn, and she discarded the bodies. Then made Flynn promise to never go into the barn without her.
