The cool wind drifted from the sky above, and clouds darkened making angry faces at those still on the godforsaken planet. Gripping Flynn's hand in her right, her eyes darted around. Flynn was only three years old, and that was too young to be in such a terrible world. What would he be like once he grew up? Would he be cold? Would he be heartless? Would he even get the chance to grow up and find out? Kara's eyes continued darting around, and Flynn walked quietly beside her. They were about a mile from their car now, but that was the usual drill. Flynn knew how to run, and Kara did too. The both of them had done this a dozen time now, without error.
There was one item that she needed, but had no luck finding. It wasn't a rare item, but it seemed most of the drug stores and convenient stores were out of them. There had to be at least one store that still had one lying around. It was unrealistic that everyone needed the same thing. Kara strongly believed that this store had one, and she really hoped so.

Her eyes darted still, and some might think she had a problem. That she might be mentally ill from paranoia. Those people could very well be right, but Kara didn't care. She had a child to take care of, and they needed this rope. There old rope was falling apart now, and was wearing thin. They had been using the rope to help secure the doors closed, and setting traps. Since the two had found this farm house, they had only had one attack. It was with 5 lone fleshies, and the ropes rubbed furiously against the wood. Making sure Flynn had stayed hidden, she quickly executed them from behind. Then called for Flynn to open the door.
That rope might not be able to take another attack, and they needed new rope. The rope that had before was already aged. It was far from new, and had already yellowed from age. As they approached the store, Kara peaked into the windows. Flynn stayed against the wall, and Kara attempted to see if she could see anything before even entering. The gas station was deserted, and Kara hadn't even spotted one sing fleshy.
Without further waiting, she slipped into a side door, and coached Flynn to stay hidden in a corner. Which is what he did, and Kara shuffled quietly through a few shelves. She found one lone fleshy that was bent over a body. She could feel her heart beating in her chest, and the shotgun strapped to her back would be far to load. Using her knife, she sneaking up behind it. Executing it, and gently laying it's body on top of the body it had been eating. Then, she did the same to the body laying on the ground. Executing it, and then quietly finding a few more shelves. Her eyes caught site of something white, that seemed to glow in the darkness of the building.
Approaching it, she heard a slight scuffle from the front of the building. Darting her eyes at it, she readied her shotgun. It had already been cocked, and ready to fire. Kara's heart was beating at a million miles per hour, and she watched cautiously. In the back of her mind, she tried to listen for any whimpers from Flynn, but she had a feeling he was safe. At least, he was safe until this fleshy came in through the front door. Another thought came into her mind, and she considered if it was another living person. Grabbing the rope, she twisted it around her, and tied it. Letting it fashion off as a sort of belt.
Raising up her weapon, she waited for the inevitable to occur.
